Peter Banda and Patrick Phiri were on Monday released from the Malawi national team camp due to injuries.
Flames coach Meck Mwase called into camp 12 Bullets players out of the 27-member squad of local stars in preparation for the national team’s two friendly matches against Lesotho this weekend.
However, the Bullets duo was released without training with the rest of the squad, as medical tests showed they picked injuries while on club duty during the Blantyre Derby last Saturday.
According to Flames team manager James Sangala, Banda has a groin injury while Phiri has problems with his knee.
But a statement from the Football Association of Malawi quotes Sangala as saying the injuries are minor.
The Flames leave the country on Thursday and will play Likuena on Friday and Sunday in Maseru during this weekend’s international break.
Bullets players remaining in camp are Rabson Chiyenda, Ernest Kakhobwe, Charles Petro, Nickson Nyasulu, Gomegzani Chirwa, Precious Sambani, Chimango Kayira, Chimwemwe Idana, Mike Mkwate and Hassan Kajoke.
Meanwhile, having contributed a number of players to the national team, Bullets will not be involved in any TNM Super League matches until the Flames return home.
The People’s Team was slated to face Silver Strikers away in Lilongwe on Saturday, before meeting Ntopwa FC next Tuesday, however the Super League of Malawi postponed the two games.
