After securing a spot in the Carlsberg Cup semi-final at the weekend, Nyasa Big Bullets will now be shifting focus to the TNM Super League.
The People’s Team on Saturday host Malawi Defense Force side from Salima, MAFCO FC, at Kamuzu Stadium in Week 24 of the flagship league.
Currently at the summit of the log table, Bullets remain the only team unbeaten in the league this season, with 14 wins and seven draws from 21 games and have amassed 49 points, scoring 39 goals and conceding nine.
A win against MAFCO will see Nyasa Big Bullets opening a nine-point gap at the summit of the table above second-placed Silver Strikers.
The Bankers, who failed to reduce the gap over the weekend after losing 1-2 to Civil Sporting Club in the Lilongwe derby, have 43 points from 22 games, while BE Forward Wanderers, third on the table, have 42 points from the same number of games as Bullets.
MAFCO will be the fourth military side The People’s Team will be meeting within 16 days after defeating Changalume Barracks 0-6 and Red Lions 4-5 in the Carlsberg Cup as well as Kamuzu Barracks 6-0 in the league.
Bullets were 1-0 winners over MAFCO when the two sides met in the first round of the TNM Super League at Kasungu Stadium in July. Patrick Phiri scored the lone goal that game BB maximum points.
