The friendly match between Mlatho Mponera and Nyasa Big Bullets has been called off.

Bullets were slated to travel to Lilongwe to play the TNM Super League rookies in a fundraising match at Nankhaka Stadium on Saturday.

The friendly encounter was organized by Central Region Football Association to raise funds for the newly-promoted Mponera-based team.

A weekend where there are no competitive games due to the Malawi national team COSAFA Cup engagement in South Africa, coach Kalisto Pasuwa was expected to give game time to some of his troops that have not been playing, most of them coming from injuries.

The People’s Team has contributed eight key players to the 20-member Flames squad which flew to Durban on Friday.

The players on national duty include Ernest Kakhobwe, Charles Petro, Precious Sambani, Gomegzani Chirwa, Mike Mkwate, Chimwemwe Idana, Peter Banda and Hassan Kajoke.

Having contributed more than three players to the national team, Bullets are expected to return to competitive football when the Flames return from the COSAFA tournament, which gets underway Saturday.
